Job summary

Forsgren Associates, newly acquired Apex Company, seeks a Principal Engineer in Boise to lead infrastructure projects, mentor teams, and strengthen client partnerships across the western U.S. You will guide design, planning, bidding, and construction efforts while shaping the firm’s future through strategic planning and staff development.

You will build trusted client relationships, oversee budgets and schedules, and drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer registration.
• 10+ years of civil engineering experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and building client relationships.
• Project management experience including proposals, scopes, budgets and execution.
• Commitment to mentoring staff and developing high-performing teams.
• Experience with strategic planning, client development, and operational oversight.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Lead engineers and technical staff across infrastructure projects from planning and design through bidding and construction.

• Build trusted client relationships and identify new opportunities through thoughtful engagement, networking, proposals, and presentations.
• Drive project and operational excellence by overseeing schedules, budgets, technical quality, workload, and execution.
• Partner with division leadership on strategic planning, business development, and client relationship management across the western U.S.
• Play a central role in talent development, succession planning, and the long term strength of the organization.
• Help refine and execute the firm's strategy and growth plan while guiding the day to day operations and profitability of the Boise office.

What You Bring

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer registration
• 10+ years of civil engineering experience.
• A record of leading multidisciplinary project teams and building strong client relationships.
• Project management experience, including proposals, scopes, budgets, and successful project execution.
• A genuine commitment to mentoring staff and developing high performing teams.
