Job summary

Forsgren Associates, Inc. in Boise seeks a Managing Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team across civil, transportation, structural, hydraulic, water resources, and CE&I projects. Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering is required.
  • PE licensure in Idaho or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with project proposals, scopes, budgets, and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers on infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, technical quality, and workload to ensure excellence.
  • Strengthen client relationships and grow workload with value-driven solutions.
  • Mentor staff to build a high-performing, quality-focused culture.
  • Identify new business opportunities through networking, proposals, and client presentations.

As our Managing Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to lead talented technical teams, foster client relationships, and help shape the continued growth of one of Idaho's most respected engineering practices.

Your Responsibilities As a Managing Engineer
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical staff on a wide variety of infrastructure projects—from planning and design through bidding and construction.
  • Drive operational excellence by monitoring project schedules, budgets, technical quality, and team workload.
  • Strengthen and expand client relationships and workload through responsive, value-driven engineering solutions.
  • Guide and mentor staff to cultivate a high-performing team culture focused on quality, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Develop and strengthen client relationships by proactively identifying new business opportunities through networking, thoughtful engagement, proposal preparation, and client presentations, supporting the growth of our regional business development program.
  • Partner with division leadership on strategic planning, business development, and client relationship management throughout the western U.S.
  • Play a central role in talent development, succession planning, and long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Take the lead for refinement and implementation of the firm’s strategy, business growth plan, and day-to-day operations of our Boise office to achieve overall corporate objectives and ensure profitability.
What We're Looking For
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Idaho (or ability to obtain such a license within 6 months)
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead multidisciplinary project teams
  • Project management experience including development of project proposals, scopes, budgets, and successful execution of engineering projects
  • Strong staff mentorship and performance management capabilities
  • Experience with strategic planning, client development, and operational oversight
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and strong interpersonal skills
