Backcountry seeks a Principal Engineer, Application Development to own architecture and quality across our e‑commerce platform. You will lead a small team building fulfillment and order management systems powering multiple brands, while driving AI-powered innovation and reliability.

With 10+ years in software, you will mentor engineers, set technical direction, and collaborate with product/design/ops to deliver high‑impact projects at pace.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience with e-commerce fulfillment.
• Strong background in Java, Spring, and Node.js architectures.
• Experience leading software teams and driving production-grade delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own platform architecture for multiple brands and guide a dev team.
• Design AI-enabled workflows and improve delivery throughput and reliability.
• Develop and maintain fulfillment systems with scalable, maintainable code.
• Provide technical mentorship and ensure quality gates and observability.
