Job summary

ams OSRAM USA Inc. is seeking an experienced RF/Analog Design Engineer to enhance RF immunity for optical sensor products.

You will work with interdisciplinary teams to integrate RF immunity features and perform detailed transistor-level design with thorough simulations in Cadence Virtuoso. Ideal candidates hold a PhD or Master’s in Electrical Engineering with 5–7+ years of RF/mixed-signal experience and leadership.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Electrical Engineering with applicable RF/mixed-signal experience.
• 5+ years (PhD) or 7+ years (Master’s) in RF circuit and analog/mixed-signal design, including lead roles.

Responsibilities

• Apply RF and analog design to enhance RF immunity of optical sensor products.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate RF immunity features.
• Perform transistor-level analog circuit design and SPICE simulations (PVT, Monte Carlo).
• Direct floor planning and layout activities with the physical design team.
• Review designs and provide performance summaries for design reviews.

Your new responsibilities

Apply RF and analog design expertise to enhance the RF (radio frequency) immunity of optical sensor products, addressing interference challenges in sensitive optical sensor applications. Develop solutions to minimize RF signal interference, ensuring the performance of optical sensors used in consumer devices such as cellphones, smartwatches, laptops, and VR headsets. Work with interdisciplinary teams to integrate RF immunity features into optical sensor products. Overcome the challenges associated with designing high-sensitivity optical sensors that are sensitive to light and RF signal interference, ensuring reliable operation in the presence of diverse RF signals. Providing deep technical expertise in analog and RF circuit design, to create products with superior performance in challenging RF environments. Design advanced analog circuits and use advanced RF immunity design techniques to improve the sensor's RF immunity in harsh environments. Use 3D electromagnetic field modeling tools to extract block-, IC-, and package-level models, perform RF performance simulations, and optimize product performance using analog and RF circuit design techniques. Perform detailed transistor-level analog circuit design, including SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis) simulations, process/voltage/temperature (PVT) analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, and mixed-signal electrical simulations. Review block-level performance specifications and implement designs at the transistor level. Conduct block-level and top-level analog and RF simulations. Direct floor planning and layout activities in collaboration with the physical design team. Document circuit design solutions and performance summary reports for peer design reviews. Participate in circuit design reviews and collaborate with team members to share ideas and technical insights. Hybrid work policy w/in commuting distance.

Who we are looking for

PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of experience in RF circuit and analog/mixed-signal design; OR Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 7 years of experience in RF circuit and analog/mixed-signal design, including at least 5 years in a lead role.

Experience to include (with PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 7 years of experience):

• Analog IC Design, including amplifier, filter, buffer, ADC, current source, bandgap reference, LDO, oscillator, power management circuits, and ESD structures. Strong experience in Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, layout XL. Perform process corner and Monte Carlo simulation. Conduct design analysis and debugging of analog and mixed-signal circuits. Document circuit designs, concepts, ideas and solutions. Prepare and present performance summaries for the design review.
• HFSS or CST tool for electromagnetic modeling including IC components and packages; S-parameter extraction and designing customized passive devices for impedance matching.
• RF circuits design and analysis, including low noise amplifier, mixer, and power amplifier, PGA (programable gain amplifier).
• IC bench test, operating instruments including oscilloscope, multimeter, signal source, and spectrum analyzer.
