Collins Aerospace in Windsor Locks, CT is seeking a Principal EMI/EMC Engineer to drive EMI/EMC requirements, assess risks, and influence cross‑functional design. The role is onsite with U.S.

Qualifications

  • Work with cross‑functional teams to recommend design solutions for compliance.
  • Develop EMI test plans and procedures that meet customer and industry standards (RTCA/DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑461).
  • Support in‑house testing at the EMI lab and ensure tests are executed properly.
  • Prepare EMI test reports for internal and external customers.
  • Present EMI findings and recommendations in design reviews.

Job description

Principal EMI/EMC Engineer

Location: Windsor Locks, CT

Role: Onsite – U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities
  • Review customer EMI/EMC requirements and assess compliance or risks.
  • Analyze existing and redesigned hardware for EMI/EMC performance.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to recommend design solutions for compliance.
  • Develop EMI test plans and procedures that meet customer and industry standards (RTCA/DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑461).
  • Support in‑house testing at the EMI lab and ensure tests are executed properly.
  • Prepare EMI test reports for internal and external customers.

Qualifications – Must Have
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC principles, standards, and testing practices.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC modeling and 3‑D EM analysis tools such as Ansys EMC Simulation or CST Studio Suite.
  • Hands‑on experience with system‑level and circuit‑level design.
  • Familiarity with ETS‑Lindgren TILE! Integrated EMI test environment software.
  • Experience in design, risk mitigation, testing, and project management.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, including systems and circuit groups.
  • Experience presenting EMI‑related findings at internal and external customer design reviews.
  • Clear, concise communication skills, strong attention to detail, and high accuracy.

Salaries range from 107,500 USD to 204,500 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
