Job summary

X4 Technology is seeking a Principal Embedded Engineer for an on-site role in Brentwood, NY. You will own architecture and technical direction across embedded software and bare-metal firmware while actively writing code and guiding the team.

The position requires deep hands-on experience with wireless systems and low-level C/C++ development, working closely with hardware teams to drive system-level decisions and performance optimizations.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on embedded/bare-metal firmware experience.
• Experience with wireless technologies at firmware/protocol level.
• Strong electrical engineering understanding and ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical direction for embedded and bare-metal firmware.
• Write and review low-level firmware on microcontrollers without OS/RTOS abstraction.
• Lead development and integration of wireless protocols into products.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering on bring-up, schematics, and debugging.
• Mentor engineers and escalate complex technical problems.
• Drive decisions on processor selection, power budgets, and system trade-offs.
