Job summary

RTX in Plano, TX is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to architect, design, and implement embedded real‑time software that integrates firmware, hardware, and software across complex systems. You will lead small teams, collaborate with cross-functional groups, and help drive testable, high‑quality solutions.

The role requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience in embedded real‑time development (C++) and experience with Linux or VxWorks, plus TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in STEM and at least 8 years of engineering experience.
Embedded real-time software development with C++.
Experience with Linux, VxWorks, or RTOS.
Minimum 2 years SAP experience and TS/SCI clearance before start.

Responsibilities

Architect, design, implement, test, and debug embedded real-time software.
Lead software development for teams of 3–4 engineers.
Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to refine product concepts and improve testability and quality.
Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff to enhance team capabilities.
Contribute to proposals, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews.
Participate in integration and testing of embedded real-time software with hardware.
