Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Cedar Rapids to join the Platform Services Software Team. You will develop software for defense applications in a Linux environment, contribute to requirements, design, and testing, and collaborate with engineers to deliver robust solutions.

Responsibilities include software design, coding, integration and DevOps practices, with travel up to 15% and a focus on RF, PNT and EW systems in a fast-paced aerospace setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience developing in a Linux environment with modern languages (C++, Java).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced defense software environment and maintain security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements, design, development and testing of software including new work products or enhancements.
• Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering professionals.
• Maintain configuration management and DevOps practices.
• Develop innovative software for communications, navigation, radar and EW applications.
• Travel up to 15%.
