Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer in Prince George, VA for a contract position. The role leads the design and development of embedded hardware and electrical systems across the product lifecycle, providing technical leadership and architectural guidance.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in embedded hardware design, strong system architecture, PCB design, validation, and RF expertise, with proven leadership abilities and customer-facing communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE/PhD) or equivalent experience.
• 12 years of embedded hardware design and EE product development experience.
• Strong expertise in system architecture, PCB design, hardware validation, and EE disciplines (power, analog, digital, RF).
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and communicate with cross-functional teams and customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and validation of complex embedded hardware and electrical systems.
• Define system architecture, establish technical requirements, and guide engineering teams through the product lifecycle.
• Oversee PCB design, component selection, and design analysis for performance and regulatory compliance.
• Drive resolution of complex technical challenges and evaluate design trade-offs.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to communicate requirements and risks.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
