Alertus is seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager, Hardware Engineering to lead a small team in designing, prototyping, and documenting hardware solutions for life-safety systems. You will guide engineers through complex projects and participate as a technical contributor in the product development process.

The role is office-based and based at our HQ in Baltimore, with occasional travel. Bachelor's in E.E. and 8+ years of hands-on design and leadership experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years of hands-on product and system design experience.
• Proven experience in a management role within an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of engineers to achieve complex project design goals.
• Design, prototype, and document hardware solutions to be standalone or part of larger systems.
• Prepare BOMs, assembly instructions, test plans, and user documentation for production.
• Collaborate with QA to ensure developments meet requirements and transition to Production.
• Provide high-level technical support to Sales for existing and legacy products.
• Occasional travel may be required.
