Job summary

Plug Power is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for Fuel Cell Platforms in Slingerlands, NY, to serve as the electrical technical authority across the full design lifecycle, from concept to production release. You will lead DC/DC power converter designs, embedded control systems, and the top-level electrical architecture, while mentoring engineers and balancing performance with cost and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years of power electronics development experience in regulated or high‑reliability industries.
• Hands‑on embedded controls hardware experience on DSP/MCU/FPGA platforms.
• Strong system‑level electrical architecture experience including power distribution, grounding, harness, and sensor integration.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and validate DC/DC power converters for fuel cell stack and BOP interfaces.
• Drive EMI/EMC mitigation from schematic through PCB layout and system validation.
• Oversee schematic capture, PCB layout review, and DFM; lead hardware design reviews (PDR, CDR).
• Lead architecture, design, and validation of embedded control systems on DSP/MCU/FPGA platforms.
• Own top-level electrical architecture for the fuel cell power system and balance‑of‑plant electrical requirements.
• Define compliance activities for UL, CE, NFPA 2, SAE; support regulatory approvals; own electrical DFMEA.
• Define and own DVP&R; lead DV and PV testing including environmental and safety qualification.
• Mentor junior engineers and represent electrical engineering in executive settings.
