Job summary

Tighe & Bond is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services Team in the Northeast, with hybrid work options across Westwood, Woburn, or Boston, MA. You will guide multidisciplinary design and lead electrical engineering from planning through commissioning for high-profile facilities.

You will oversee power distribution, emergency power, lighting, fire alarm, and life-safety systems while mentoring engineers and coordinating with owners, architects, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 15+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably with a consulting engineering, AEC, or building design firm.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, transformers, and life safety systems.
• Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary projects from concept through construction.
• Strong client communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for building systems and campus infrastructure.
• Serve as Engineer of Record for electrical projects.
• Evaluate existing electrical systems and develop upgrade recommendations.
• Lead engineering studies, energy efficiency reviews, and master planning.
• Prepare and review drawings, specs, reports, and cost estimates.
• Support delivery methods including design-bid-build and design-build.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain design standards.
• Mentor engineers and review technical work.
