Fluidstack, an AI Cloud Platform, seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to oversee power system design for high-density data centers. This role involves ensuring efficient power integration and adherence to industry standards. Candidates should possess a degree in electrical engineering and over ten years of relevant experience. The Principal Electrical Engineer will own the data center power system system design from utility to racks. You will define the power infrastructure that enables high-density GPU campuses. You will craft resilient topologies that deliver clean, rapid-response power while meeting stringent uptime, safety and efficiency targets.
Manage all aspects of electrical engineering system for data centers including MV and LV power distribution, lighting, fire alarm system and ELV systems coordinating with all other discipline requirements.
Create strategy for data center electrical system design and deployment.
Develop electrical design standards for power distribution to high-density liquid-cooled and air-cooled racks, mechanical equipment and systems within data centers.
Lead innovation for electrical engineering systems for achieving high efficiency, better PUE.
Develop and maintain the basis of design, master specification and master drawings.
Facilitate developing project specific drawings and documentation based on the master design with local adaptation working with external design consultants.
Develop one-line diagrams for MV/HV utility feeds, substations, generator farms and UPS topologies (2N, N+1).
Right-size busways, RPPs and PDUs to support 100+ kW per rack and liquid-cooling auxiliaries.
Calculate load steps, fault-level analysis and protection coordination.
Specify switchgear, LV transformers, STS/ATS, battery storage, flywheels and renewable integrations.
Lead power-quality studies (harmonics, flicker, grounding) for GPU workloads.
Author sequence-of-operations, FAT/SAT protocols and energisation plans.
Produce electrical bill-of-materials, sequence-of-operations and commissioning scripts.
Interface with Mechanical Controls and Construction teams through 30/60/90% design reviews.
Willing and able to travel (domestic and international) to support projects. 20% travel is expected for this role.
B.S/B.E/B.A degree in electrical engineering discipline.
10+ years designing data center and mission-critical electrical systems and knowledge on AI / HPC data centres.
Expert in NEC, IEC and IEEE standards; ETAP or SKM modelling proficiency.
Familiar with liquid-cooled rack power delivery, blind-mate busbars and 48 VDC architectures.
PE/Chartered Electrical Engineer strongly preferred.
