About the Role

The Principal Electrical Engineer will own the data center power system system design from utility to racks. You will define the power infrastructure that enables high-density GPU campuses. You will craft resilient topologies that deliver clean, rapid-response power while meeting stringent uptime, safety and efficiency targets.

Focus
  • Manage all aspects of electrical engineering system for data centers including MV and LV power distribution, lighting, fire alarm system and ELV systems coordinating with all other discipline requirements.

  • Create strategy for data center electrical system design and deployment.

  • Develop electrical design standards for power distribution to high-density liquid-cooled and air-cooled racks, mechanical equipment and systems within data centers.

  • Lead innovation for electrical engineering systems for achieving high efficiency, better PUE.

  • Develop and maintain the basis of design, master specification and master drawings.

  • Facilitate developing project specific drawings and documentation based on the master design with local adaptation working with external design consultants.

  • Develop one-line diagrams for MV/HV utility feeds, substations, generator farms and UPS topologies (2N, N+1).

  • Right-size busways, RPPs and PDUs to support 100+ kW per rack and liquid-cooling auxiliaries.

  • Calculate load steps, fault-level analysis and protection coordination.

  • Specify switchgear, LV transformers, STS/ATS, battery storage, flywheels and renewable integrations.

  • Lead power-quality studies (harmonics, flicker, grounding) for GPU workloads.

  • Author sequence-of-operations, FAT/SAT protocols and energisation plans.

  • Produce electrical bill-of-materials, sequence-of-operations and commissioning scripts.

  • Interface with Mechanical Controls and Construction teams through 30/60/90% design reviews.

  • Willing and able to travel (domestic and international) to support projects. 20% travel is expected for this role.

About You
  • B.S/B.E/B.A degree in electrical engineering discipline.

  • 10+ years designing data center and mission-critical electrical systems and knowledge on AI / HPC data centres.

  • Expert in NEC, IEC and IEEE standards; ETAP or SKM modelling proficiency.

  • Familiar with liquid-cooled rack power delivery, blind-mate busbars and 48 VDC architectures.

  • PE/Chartered Electrical Engineer strongly preferred.

Benefits
  • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity).

  • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms.

  • Fluidstack is remote first, but has offices in key hubs. For all other locations, we provide access to WeWork.
