Job description

Avidyne Corporation is at the cutting edge of the aviation industry, driving forward advanced avionics for both conventional aircraft and next-generation advanced air mobility (AAM) platforms. Our mission is not only to create revolutionary products but to redefine the way people experience flight.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer with Avidyne, you will drive the design, development, and optimization of sophisticated electrical systems essential to the functionality and safety of our cutting-edge avionics solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for technical leadership, a relentless pursuit of innovation, an attention to detail, and a commitment to collaboration for diverse perspectives within our cross-functional teams.

Why Avidyne?

At Avidyne, you’ll experience the rare opportunity to see your designs come to life, with in-house manufacturing located less than 50 yards from your desk. This unique setup allows you to go from design to working on prototypes and final products firsthand, providing immediate feedback and a deeper connection to your work.

You’ll also have access to flight training and the chance to earn your pilot’s license, giving you a firsthand perspective on the products you help create. Imagine taking the controls of an aircraft equipped with the technology you helped design – it’s an opportunity that is encouraged and supported at Avidyne.

Lastly, Avidyne believes in a harmonized approach to work and life, recognizing that true impact comes from individuals who feel supported and empowered. Unlike firms that may expect an all-consuming focus on work, Avidyne values the well-being of our team, fostering an environment where personal fulfillment fuels both productivity and high-quality results, allowing our team to deliver at the fast pace the aviation industry demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architecting Advanced Solutions: Spearhead the design, documentation, and rigorous testing of sophisticated digital and analog circuit boards, ensuring alignment with system requirements critical to avionics functionality.
  • Driving Project Success: Lead entire sections of major projects, offering strategic oversight from concept through to product release, including design reviews, quality assurance, and design optimizations for enhanced system performance.
  • Pioneering Technological Advancement: Innovate in the design, fabrication, and testing of high-performance CPU, GPU, memory, data-bus, and FPGA interfaces to create powerful, next-generation avionics systems.
  • Fostering Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively across internal and external teams, acting as a technical authority throughout the product lifecycle, and ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder needs through clear, impactful communication.
  • Cultivating Talent and Expertise: Serve as a mentor to junior engineers, sharing knowledge and providing guidance to support their growth and success, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Enhance Daily Operations: Improve daily operations by refining processes and upgrading tools. Promote a culture of continuous improvement to boost efficiency and achieve operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in PCB schematic/layout design, testing, and product integration, or a master’s degree with 8+ years of similar experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated mastery in PCB production technologies, electronics design tools, and the ability to navigate complex design challenges using modern capture software.
  • Driven by Impact: A self-starter who consistently delivers high-quality results, demonstrates a keen sense of initiative and collaboration, and embraces the fast pace of technology.

If you're ready to put your hard work and expertise to meaningful use at a company that values both innovation and your well-being, Avidyne invites you to join us. Here, dedication and impact go hand-in-hand, creating a balanced, supportive environment where your contributions help drive aviation forward.
