Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; PE license preferred.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering and power distribution for industrial/commercial projects.

• Proven ability to lead multiple complex projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and execution of LV/MV power distribution projects.
• Perform electrical analysis, troubleshooting, load studies, power quality assessments.
• Develop new designs and manage retrofit projects within scope, schedule, budget.
• Provide technical oversight to ensure IEEE, NFPA, and customer standards.
• Serve as SME for distribution equipment and guide project teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Job description

Akkodis is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for a Direct Hire with a client in Marion, IA (Remote). The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in electrical system design, troubleshooting, and project execution while providing technical leadership, mentorship, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Salary Range: $150K/Yearly to $160K/Yearly; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Principal Electrical Engineer Job Responsibilities Include

• Lead the design, development, and execution of complex low- and medium-voltage power distribution projects for commercial and industrial clients.
• Perform electrical system analysis, troubleshooting, load studies, and power quality assessments to improve system reliability and performance.
• Develop new electrical designs and manage retrofit projects while ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Provide technical oversight and ensure engineering deliverables meet IEEE, NFPA, and customer-specific standards.
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for electrical distribution equipment, offering technical guidance to project teams and clients.
• Mentor and train junior engineers, support business development initiatives, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated power and automation solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power distribution systems, and industrial/commercial project execution.
• Strong expertise in low- and medium-voltage power distribution design, electrical system troubleshooting, load studies, power quality analysis, and compliance with IEEE and NFPA standards.
• Proven ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously, provide technical mentorship, and serve as a subject matter expert on electrical distribution equipment and systems.
