Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Blue Ash, OH to lead electrical design and sustain legacy medical-device products. You will troubleshoot components, manage obsolescence, support verifications/validations, and ensure regulatory compliance with IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and FDA QSR.

Collaborating with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and Supply Chain, you will drive CAPA activities, design changes, and technical documentation updates while maintaining

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6–8+ years of electrical engineering experience, including at least 3 years in medical devices or another regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, schematics, PCB layout, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, drivers, microcontrollers, and communication methodologies including onboard, wired, and wireless.
  • Experience with medical-device standards such as IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and FDA QSR / 21 CFR Part 820.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering activities for sustaining and legacy medical-device products.
  • Investigate and resolve electrical component obsolescence, supplier changes, and field issues.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support design changes, verification/validation, and technical documentation updates.
  • Ensure designs and changes comply with FDA, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601 requirements.
  • Participate in FMEA, risk assessments, design reviews, and change-control processes.
  • Collaborate with QA, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and Supply Chain.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing and testing activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation including schematics, BOMs, test protocols, and reports.
  • Support sustaining engineering activities and design updates for legacy products.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality systems.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering activities supporting sustaining and legacy medical device products. The role will focus on electrical design, troubleshooting, component obsolescence, supplier changes, verification/validation, root-cause analysis, and regulatory compliance. The engineer will work closely with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.

Pay Range: $48/hr. to $53/hr.; The pay may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6–8+ years of electrical engineering experience, including at least 3 years in medical devices or another regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, schematics, PCB layout, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, drivers, microcontrollers, and communication methodologies including onboard, wired, and wireless.
  • Experience with medical-device standards such as IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and FDA QSR / 21 CFR Part 820.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • Analog & Digital Circuit Design – design, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Schematic & PCB Design/Layout – experience with tools such as Altium and OrCAD.
  • DFM/DFA/DFT knowledge.
  • Component Engineering – component obsolescence, alternate sourcing, and supplier changes.
  • Medical Device Compliance – IEC 60601, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820.
  • Electrical Testing and troubleshooting.
  • Sensors, Drivers, and Microcontrollers.
  • Embedded Systems – basic understanding of firmware/hardware integration.
  • MATLAB / LabVIEW experience is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical engineering activities for sustaining and legacy medical-device products.

  • Troubleshooting of electrical/electronic product issues.
  • Corrective and preventive action implementation.
