Job summary

Exyte US, Inc. is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design of high-technology facilities, including cleanrooms and manufacturing plants.

You will produce construction documents for power, lighting, controls, and grounding systems, collaborating with engineers and designers to deliver high-quality designs. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years of experience, strong leadership, and proficiency in Autodesk Building Systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • PE License is preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in electrical design and consulting engineering.
  • Experience leading a team and mentoring junior staff.
  • Experience in quality control and continuous improvement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms and manufacturing plants.
  • Prepare electrical calculations for equipment sizing, feeder sizing, and equipment selection.
  • Plan and schedule discipline deliverables and supervise personnel on projects.
  • Support on-site execution and act as technical consultant for projects.
  • Develop manpower and labor cost estimates to support schedules and budgets.
  • Provide technical input to studies and design in your area of expertise.
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final design documents with sizing calculations and power diagrams.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and project teams to incorporate inputs.
  • Contribute to the development of design procedures for cost-effective work.

The Principal Electrical Engineer participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for the following systems: power, lighting, controls, grounding, and the like.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Performs engineering tasks for the design of electrical systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, general manufacturing/process facilities and institutional facilities
  • Prepares electrical engineering calculations in support of electrical system designs including, electrical equipment sizing, feeder sizing and equipment selection
  • Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
  • Supports project on-site execution and make decisions to support projects and act as technical consultant
  • Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by discipline team
  • Develops of conceptual design, preliminary design and final design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of power diagrams, layout of electric equipment, electrical system control and the like
  • Works will include close coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
  • Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
  • 12+ years of experience
  • Autodesk Building Systems Software
  • Consulting engineering experience
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Experience in the quality control review process
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
  • Experience leading a team

Preferred

  • Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record preferred
  • Advanced Technology experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of industrial and manufacturing facilities and systems
  • Good time management skills, strong work ethic and attention to details
  • Must be a strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
