Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking a qualified principal to lead instructional strategy under the Assistant Superintendent and collaborate with Directors of Inupiat Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Student Services, and IT.

The role ensures access to training, supports, and materials aligned with the Board’s Strategic Plan and district pedagogy, while maintaining a learning environment centered on the whole student.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Alaska Teacher Certificate required.
• Class C certificate required.
• Three years of experience in education preferred.
• Inupiaq, Language, History & Culture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competency in subject matter areas of certification and assignment.
• Employ assessment methods to identify student proficiency and plan programs using data.
• Foster harmonious interpersonal relationships with students, parents, staff, and community.
• Promote and support School District Goals as defined in the Board of Education Strategic Plan.
• Participate in educational committees and organizations for professional growth.
• Develop awareness of local culture and provide bicultural/multicultural instruction.
• Use Rubicon Atlas to complete culture-based unit development per annual expectations.
• Supervise and train instructional paraprofessionals providing services to students.
• Write and submit weekly lesson plans to Principal and maintain digital copies.
• Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Education

Master’s Degree preferred

Alaska Teacher Certificate

Class C

Three years of experience in education

Inupiaq language, history & culture experience preferred
