Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal or Associate Director to lead our Drainage Engineering team in the South East. You will shape water, drainage and environmental solutions for major transportation infrastructure projects across the UK, guiding projects from concept through to detailed design.

You will manage client relationships, lead a team of engineers, and ensure delivery to high technical and commercial standards while expanding our UK expertise and capabilities.

Qualifications

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and/or degree qualified (role dependent).
• Extensive and proven post‑degree experience in designing sustainable drainage solutions.
• Knowledge of drainage design principles and solutions to manage infrastructure drainage.
• Experience using Civil 3D and/or Causeway Flow software/MicroDrainage.
• Proven knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety regulations.
• Successful management of projects/programmes and teams to meet quality and commercial targets.
• Technical experience in Highway Drainage, Rail Drainage, Airport Drainage, Asset Management, Foul water, Sustainable drainage design, Drainage modelling software (Causeway Flow or Microdrainage).

Responsibilities

• Delivery of a wide variety of civil engineering projects (highway, rail, infrastructure, site development).
• Lead projects from concept through to completion with high technical standards and commercial success.
• Deliver drainage services for major transport and infrastructure projects in the UK.
• Lead client relationships and attend progress meetings.
• Manage a team of drainage engineers and ensure project resourcing and development.
