Job summary

Medtronic seeks a Principal Software Engineer - Embedded OS to lead OS layer development and secure software platforms across multiple products. You will drive embedded OS infrastructure, Yocto distributions, and security automation within the Capital Products portfolio.

You will collaborate with hardware, software, and product teams to define platform capabilities, maintain BSPs, and ensure robust security across devices in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in engineering with 7+ years software experience, or master with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years.
• PhD option requires 3+ years software development experience.
• Strong Yocto and embedded Linux experience.
• Experience with BSP, OS layers, boot flows, and device security.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded platform software and build infra.
• Create and support Yocto-based embedded Linux distributions.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines with security automation tools.
• Develop BSP software, including hypervisors and device drivers.
• Support networking security, secure boot, and OTA update mechanisms.
• Collaborate with product teams to define platform capabilities.
• Develop and document software engineering policies and procedures.
• Act as primary Platforms POC with program leads and other stakeholders.
