Job summary

Envision Innovative Solutions, based in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, seeks a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the design, automation, deployment, and maintenance of scalable, secure infrastructure for critical applications.

You will drive release pipelines, implement robust configuration management, and mentor Agile teams while leveraging tools like Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and AWS. This role is on-site in Maryland and requires TS-level security clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of DevOps, Systems Engineering, or related experience.
• Experience with Git and version control best practices, Linux (RHEL/CentOS), Docker & Kubernetes, Jenkins/Bamboo, AWS, and infrastructure automation (Ansible/Puppet/Chef).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.

Envision is seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

What You'll Do

As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will lead the design, automation, deployment, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications.

Key responsibilities include:

• Support the development life cycle of platform architectural design, deployment and debugging
• Building a release pipeline to enable fast, but safe delivery of critical business software to Production
• Develop & Maintain sound version control best practices-based CM systems (GIT), including branching and merging strategies
• Serve as a technical lead for an Agile team and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies. Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
• Ability to automate release deployments across development, test, staging, Quality Assurance and production stacks using a combination of scripting languages and other automation toolkits
• Set-up up new sites and applications via configuration management such as Puppet and Ansible
• Maintain / upgrade/ patch tracking and documentation software (Confluence / Jira)
• Create, Assist, and Implement design and maintenance web service infrastructure and deployments
• Analyze service stack and make recommendations for further improvements
• Identify processes and capabilities that can be streamlined and automated
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to information being processed, stored, or accessed
• Proficient with DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering methodologies.
• Proficient automating network infrastructure configuration using Software Defined Networking
• Set up and configure a continuous integration environment by leveraging Configuration Management, containerization, serverless technologies, and Kubernetes.
• Architect and develop best practices for software build tools (Gradle, Maven, ANT, Shell) and continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Bamboo), and infrastructure automation (Amazon Web Services, VMWare, Puppet, Chef, ansible, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of DevOps, Systems Engineering, or related experience
• Experience with:
  • Git and version control best practices
  • Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS)
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Jenkins and/or Bamboo
  • AWS cloud environments
  • Infrastructure Automation (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Python, Go, Java, Ruby, C++, or similar programming languages
• Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN)
• Experience supporting Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments
• Elasticsearch (Kibana a plus)
• Redis, ActiveMQ, Memcache, or similar technologies
