Job summary

Ampere Computing is recruiting a Principal Developer Tools Engineer to lead the design and development of the next generation of Debug Tools. You will build scalable tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to improve developer productivity, software quality, and release velocity.

You will collaborate with software, validation, and customer teams, architect GitLab pipelines, and scale infrastructure with containers and GitLab Runners to support Ampere’s product roadmap.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field with 8+ years experience, or MS with 6+ years.
• Strong expertise in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent).
• Proficiency building developer tooling with Python, Bash, or other languages.
• Deep CI pipeline development experience using GitLab CI (and ideally GitHub Actions).
• Strong command of Git for source code management and collaboration workflows.
• Solid understanding of configuration management and software version management.
• Experience with bare metal system setup and management is a plus.
• Knowledge of firmware and debugger concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of next generation Developer Tools in Ampere’s Debug Tools software team.
• Build and scale infrastructure, tooling, and delivery processes to improve productivity, quality, and release velocity.
• Architect CI/CD pipelines on top of GitLab with reusable components and standard workflows.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate needs into actionable tooling and process improvements.
• Automate development, testing, and release workflows to reduce manual effort and ensure consistency.
• Define the Debug Tools delivery lifecycle and establish quality metrics and gates.
• Design tooling supporting delivery methods and development model.
• Implement automated failure analysis to accelerate triage and root-cause analysis.
• Scale infrastructure for product roadmap using containers and GitLab Runners.
• Drive improvements in configuration and versioning practices for traceability.
