Job summary

QTS Realty Trust seeks a Principal DCIM Design Engineer to lead the design, standardization, coordination, and delivery of BMS/EPMS/SCADA across the data center portfolio. You will drive design standards, sequences of operations, and alarming strategies while mentoring regional engineers and coordinating with partners and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Automation engineering.
• 10+ years in control systems for data centers with N+1 design experience.
• Expert knowledge of EPMS, BMS, and SCADA platforms.
• Experience with Rockwell, Schneider Electric, Siemens PLCs.
• Proficiency in BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, TCP/IP, SNMP, and ISO 16484.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing partner deliverables.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and collaborate with remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the DCIM design Basis of Design (BOD) and owner requirements.
• Manage AEOR Controls teams and DSI vendors with oversight and reviews.
• Direct consultants on architecture, instrumentation, alarming, and integration requirements.
• Develop enterprise-wide controls and alarming standards for BMS/EPMS/SCADA.
• Define requirements for Aveva System Platform, Ignition, and open I/O.
• Review sequences of operations, system architecture, and P&ID diagrams.
• Champion naming conventions, alarming logic, data trends, and DCIM schemas.
• Coordinate testing with consultants and integrators to ensure QA/QC.
• Mentor regional engineers on QTS standards and quality expectations.
