The Enterprise Database Services (DBS) organization is responsible for managing and transforming a large-scale, mission-critical database ecosystem supporting thousands of applications across on-premises, Exadata platforms, and multi-cloud environments (OCI, AWS, GCP).
As part of our 2026 strategic transformation, we are driving:
- Exadata modernization (X6-X7/X9 ExaCC / Exadata@Cloud)
- Cloud-first database migration strategy (OCI, AWS, GCP)
- DBaaS and full lifecycle automation
- AI/ML-driven database operations and observability
- Enterprise audit, compliance, and security standardization
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oracle Database Engineer / Lead to play a critical role in designing, engineering, and operating enterprise database platforms while driving modernization, automation, and cloud adoption initiatives.
This role will act as a technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) across Oracle platforms and will contribute to cross-platform database strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and cost optimization across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
Oracle Platform Engineering & Lifecycle Management
- Architect, deploy, and manage Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c, 23c) across OLTP, Data Warehouse, and mixed workloads
- Lead engineering and operations of:
- ASM (Automatic Storage Management)
- Manage full database lifecycle:
- Provisioning, cloning, patching (RU/RUR cycles), upgrades, decommissioning
- Drive standardization of database configurations, naming, and deployment models
Exadata & Engineered Systems Leadership
- Lead operations and engineering for:
- Exadata X6, X7, X8, X9 platforms
- Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC)
- Plan and execute:
- Platform upgrades and consolidations
- Decommissioning of legacy systems (X6 phase-out)
- Smart Scan, storage indexes, I/O performance
- Partner with vendors (Oracle) for:
- Patch strategy, performance tuning, and escalations
- OCI (ExaCC, DBCS)
- AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2-based Oracle)
- GCP (AlloyDB, Exadata@GCP)
- Execute migration strategies:
- Data Pump
- RMAN
- logical replication
- Design and implement:
- Hybrid and multi-cloud database architectures
- Landing zones and network integrations (VPC, Transit VPC, Private endpoints)
- BYOL vs License-Included
- Resource right-sizing and storage optimization
Database Automation & DBaaS (DevOps)
- Design and implement Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) frameworks
- Terraform (IaC for infra provisioning)
- Ansible (configuration management)
- Python / Shell scripting (custom automation)
- CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Enable:
- Automated patching and compliance enforcement
- Reduce manual effort through:
- Standardized templates and reusable modules
Performance Engineering & Optimization
- AWR, ASH, ADDM reports
- Perform:
- SQL tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis
- Optimize:
- High-throughput transactional systems
- Batch and ETL workloads
- Drive:
- Capacity planning, forecasting, and workload balancing
Observability, Monitoring & AI/ML Integration
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Develop and support:
- AI/ML-based predictive failure detection
- Anomaly detection models for performance and capacity
- Leverage Generative AI tools to:
- Automate incident triage
- Improve operational efficiency
- Partner with AI/ML teams to build:
- Enforce enterprise database security standards:
- TDE (Transparent Data Encryption)
- Data masking, auditing, and access controls
- Support compliance frameworks:
- SOX, internal audit, risk exceptions
- Integrate with enterprise tools:
- Imperva (database activity monitoring)
- Ensure:
- Role-based access control (RBAC)
Multi-Platform Database Ecosystem Support
- SQL Server
- MongoDB / DocumentDB
- Redis / NoSQL systems
- Database consolidation
- Cross-platform migration strategies
Act as a technical lead / SME for Oracle platforms
Mentor junior engineers and drive:
Partner with:
Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Security, Application teams
Contribute to:
Database governance boards
Standards, RACI models, and intake processes
24x7 production support and escalation handling
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Oracle Database Engineering / Administration
- Deep expertise in:
- RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, ASM
- Exadata platforms (on-prem and cloud)
- Strong experience in:
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting large-scale systems
- Hands-on experience with:
- Automation tools (Terraform, Ansible)
- Scripting (Python, Shell)
- Experience in:
- High-availability and mission-critical production environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC) / Exadata@GCP
- Exposure to:
- AI/ML applications in database operations
- Knowledge of:
- Enterprise audit and compliance frameworks

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $36.98/hour - $57.79/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
