Job summary

Jobtailor in Rockville, MD seeks an experienced database administrator to design, implement, and administer SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL environments, with a focus on security, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities include AWS RDS provisioning and monitoring, patching, backup/recovery, ETL support, PowerShell automation, and advising development teams on best practices, while maintaining documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of IT-related experience or equivalent.
Hands-on administration of SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
Experience administering AWS databases, including provisioning and monitoring.
Experience with database patching, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
Understanding of relational database architecture.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
Experience with GitHub or comparable Git-based version control.
Experience with application teams and stakeholders.
Local candidates strongly preferred.
Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, or comparable database certification (preferred).
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (preferred).
Experience with Amazon RDS (preferred).
Experience supporting production systems under service levels and change control processes (preferred).
Experience with database migrations to AWS (preferred).
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for maintenance windows and production needs (preferred).

Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation
Understanding of relational database architecture

Experience managing infrastructure code in GitHub or comparable Git-based version control
Experience with application teams and stakeholders
