Job summary

Jobtailor in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced database developer to own the enterprise data platform layer for a federal agency. You will design physical structures, tune large-scale queries, and develop robust data models while implementing schema migrations and secure access.

Responsibilities include coordinating with engineers, data scientists, and architects to tackle complex client problems and to evolve capabilities within the data platform environment.

Qualifications

7+ years of database development and administration experience.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Sole United States citizenship with ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.
Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible), DynamoDB, and S3 with Apache Iceberg tables.
Physical design at scale: partitioning, indexing, and storage layout.
Query and EXPLAIN-plan tuning on large datasets.
Logical and physical data modeling.
PL/pgSQL stored procedures.
S3 load patterns into relational and Iceberg stores.
Familiarity with Schema migration tooling such as AWS SCT.
