Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior SQL Server professional in Connecticut to design, deploy, and manage SQL Server on Windows across VMware and AWS EC2. Collaborate with database specialists to enhance the AWS-based portfolio.

You will implement fault-tolerant architectures, automate with PowerShell, Ansible, and Terraform, and monitor security, backup, and performance. US work eligibility required.

Qualifications

• 7-12 years experience with SQL Server Administration, Development or Architecture.
• 3+ years on AWS or Azure, with preference for AWS.
• 6+ years of Microsoft SQL Server, Availability Groups and Failover Clusters.
• 5+ years of development/automation with PowerShell and WinRM.
• 2+ years using Ansible to configure Windows via WinRM; Chef/Puppet helpful.
• 2+ years of Terraform experience.
• AWS certifications are highly recommended.
• Familiar with TSQL, .Net, PowerShell, Python, and Go.
• Strong backup/recovery, security configuration, license management, reporting, monitoring and audit.
• Experience in Agile environments is a plus.
• Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other databases is a plus.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• STEM OPT endorsement not supported.

• Analyze logs, metrics, incidents, and configuration drift
• Work with Linux and database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, and NoSQL as needed

Requirements

• 7-12 years experience with SQL Server Administration, Development or Architecture
• 3+ years of experience working on cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, with preference on AWS
• 6+ years of highly technical experience of Microsoft SQL Server, Availability Groups and Failover Clusters
• 5+ years of development/automation experience using Powershell and Powershell remoting via WinRM
• 2+ years of experience using Ansible to configure Windows systems using WinRM; Chef and Puppet experience also considered
• 2+ years of experience with Terraform
• AWS certifications are highly recommended
• Familiarity with TSQL, .Net, Powershell, Python, and GO
• Strong understanding of backup and recovery, security configuration, license management, reporting, integration, monitoring, audit, and performance troubleshooting
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus
• Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other database platforms is a plus
• Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
• The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement
