Hims & Hers is hiring a Principal Data Engineer to set the technical direction for data across Telehealth, prescription, and wellness products. You will define ingestion, streaming, transformation, and serving as one system, balancing analytics and production needs.

Qualifications

• 15+ years building and owning data platform architecture.
• Experience setting technical direction for large organizations.
• Deep GCP and BigQuery expertise with AWS/Multicloud exposure.
• Modern data stack governance across dbt, Airflow, Kafka, Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Own multi-year platform architecture including ingestion, streaming, and serving.
• Decide streaming strategy for analytics vs production use cases.
• Define interfaces and data contracts between teams.
• Define trust, quality, and freshness guarantees for data platforms.
• Set economics, storage and compute strategy for scale.
• Define self-service capabilities and guardrails for analytics teams.
• Chair architecture reviews and drive cross-team decisions.
• Ensure HIPAA/PHI compliance posture with Legal and Security.
