Job summary
Group One Trading is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to own the architecture and evolution of our data platform used for trading analytics and reporting. You will collaborate with traders, risk, finance, and technology leaders to design a scalable, reliable data layer and define a migration path from legacy systems.
You will partner with Senior Data Engineers, set engineering standards, and guide the team through a transition toward a modern, lakehouse-like data platform, leveraging Snowflake,
Qualifications
- Extensive experience designing, building, and evolving production data platforms.
- Expert-level SQL and strong Python skills.
- Experience with modernization or migration from legacy architectures.
- Familiar with cloud data warehouses and data orchestration tools.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of the data platform.
- Define migration strategy and target architecture for the next-gen platform.
- Lead architectural decisions and drive consensus across teams.
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with traders, risk, finance, and tech leadership.
