Job summary

Proviniti is seeking a Principal Data Architect to lead a Data Mesh initiative and define enterprise-scale data solutions. You will drive architecture decisions, collaborate with stakeholders across technology and business, and ensure secure, scalable data platforms in cloud environments.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, delivering architectural roadmaps, and mentoring teams in modern data technologies across Snowflake, Azure, and open-source tools.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience developing data and services in an enterprise/cloud environment.
• Data Modeling Experience in large-scale systems.
• Experience in the Investment Banking sector.
• Deep understanding of data warehouse, data lake architectures and data management processes.
• Hands-on expertise with multiple modern cloud storages and services (Snowflake, Azure SQL, ADLS2, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, CockroachDB, DataStax, Redis).
• Experience with ETL/analytics tools (Talend, NiFi, dbt, Databricks, ADF).
• Knowledge of on-prem/cloud data virtualization (Tibco DV, Denodo, Starburst, Dremio).
• Programming in Java or Python; scripting in Linux shell and Windows PowerShell.
• Strong organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver a big-data ecosystem at enterprise scale; assess current architecture and evolve data tech stack.
• Promote data mesh to technology and business groups and partner with stakeholders on data/analytics strategies.
• Define and document data mesh architecture and develop framework, cookbook, and bootstrap code for data infrastructure as-a-platform.
• Develop short- and long-term architectural plans for onboarding data products and identify innovations.
• Ensure Non-Functional Requirements (security, performance, DR, scalability, compliance) are articulated and implemented.
• Collaborate with Data Governance to ensure metadata accuracy and completeness.
• Evaluate, prototype and recommend emerging cloud data technologies; conduct POCs.
• Communicate complex topics to non-technical executives and assist with cloud data solution scoping.
