We are seeking a hands-on Principal Data Architect to lead enterprise-scale data platforms, shape architecture decisions, and work with executives to define data strategy and governance. This is a senior leadership role with hands-on modelling and design responsibilities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior stakeholders to define and deliver enterprise data strategies.
• Lead master data management (MDM) initiatives from design through production.
• Design semantic layers and shared business data models.
• Define and establish scalable data products and governance frameworks.
• Drive data quality, observability, and trust across data ecosystems.
• Guide architecture decisions across cloud data platforms and analytics environments.
• Mentor architects and engineers while setting technical direction.
• Remain hands-on with modelling, architecture reviews, and problem solving where needed.

Backed by a global engineering business (18k+ people), we’re building a high-autonomy, founder-led practice focused on helping enterprises modernise, scale AI, and unlock value from complex environments.

We are looking for a hands‑on Principal Data Architect to help large enterprises build the data foundations that enable modern analytics, AI, and digital transformation programmes.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines strategic thinking with deep technical expertise. You will work directly with senior business and technology stakeholders to define data strategy, shape architecture decisions, and lead the delivery of enterprise‑scale data platforms.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable discussing business outcomes with executives and reviewing data models, platform designs, and integration patterns with engineering teams.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years' experience in data architecture, enterprise data management, or related leadership roles
• Strong experience implementing MDM solutions and establishing master data strategies
• Ability to engage and influence executive stakeholders
• Background working within large, complex organisations with multiple business units and data sources
• Strong consulting, stakeholder management, and communication skills

Technical Experience

Strong expertise in several of the following:

• Snowflake
• Reltio, Informatica, Stibo, Tamr or similar MDM platforms
• Collibra or comparable governance tools
• dbt and modern data engineering frameworks
• AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform
• Data Vault and dimensional modelling
• Data quality and observability tooling
• Batch and streaming data architectures

Nice to Have

• Knowledge graph or ontology experience
• Asset-intensive industry experience
• Consulting or professional services background
• Relevant cloud, data, or governance certifications
