Job summary

Empower is seeking a Principal Engineer, Data to lead design, development, modernization, and operation of enterprise data platforms. You will architect scalable data pipelines, oversee ETL/ELT, and guide migrations to cloud-native analytics-ready architectures.

Collaborate with analysts, product owners, and technology partners to deliver reliable data products for business reporting and AI/ML use cases. You will mentor engineers, define technical roadmaps, and uphold standards while supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, or related field.
• 12+ years in software or data engineering or analytics platform development.
• Proven track record delivering complex data solutions across multiple systems and teams.
• Strong Python, SQL, distributed data processing, ETL/ELT development experience.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and services including development, deployment, and monitoring.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, warehousing, data quality, metadata, lineage, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide feasibility analysis and evaluate data analytics solutions based on business needs.
• Lead design and implementation of scalable data pipelines, models, and analytics-ready data products.
• Provide technical leadership for data architecture, ETL/ELT, reviews, and production support.
• Modernize legacy data/reporting platforms to cloud-native architectures.
• Design data pipelines using Python, Spark, SQL and orchestration tools.
• Support enterprise analytics platforms including data warehouse, BI environments.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, stakeholders to translate needs into data solutions.
• Define roadmap for data engineering, analytics enablement, and platform modernization.
• Establish engineering standards, patterns, guidelines, and data quality controls.
• Work with security/governance teams to ensure secure, scalable data systems.
• Mentor engineers and drive cloud data engineering practices.
