Job description

Secmation is looking for experienced Principal Cybersecurity Software Development Engineers who will be an instrumental part of our leadership team. At Secmation, you will design, develop, implement, and test security solutions for embedded devices and defense applications; this role does not involve managing IT security systems.

In this hands-on software development and leadership role, you will collaborate with the Secmation management team, internal development teams, subcontractors, and customers to translate advanced technical concepts into practical solutions. While familiar with cybersecurity policies and processes, your primary focus is developing software products for cybersecurity of embedded systems from concept through delivery. Your work may involve developing cybersecurity engineering tools, advanced simulation, self-driving vehicles, and protecting advanced AI/ML software. Your knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and vulnerabilities will enable you to develop secure software to defend systems from modern threats.

A successful Principal Cybersecurity Software Development Engineer will work closely with DoD customers to define new programs and ensure the technical success of existing projects. The career path for this role includes opportunities for senior technical and management growth as the company expands.

This is a full-time hybrid work-from-home position located in the DC Metro area, Raleigh, NC, or Huntsville, AL. Workdays are Monday through Friday (hours may vary based on project needs).

Requirements

• Current DoD Security Clearance Required (any level)
• BSc or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 10+ years of progressive experience in embedded software development, including systems programming, design, coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting on ARM or similar architectures
• 5+ years of experience focusing on cybersecurity products
• Software/security architect experience leading system design and development in embedded projects using C/C++ and RTOS
• Strong C/C++ programming skills with expertise in implementing security controls across platforms
• Hands-on leadership experience on contracts with DoD laboratories or organizations (e.g., AFRL, ONR, AFC)
• Expert knowledge of cybersecurity technologies with a successful program track record
• Ability to lead geographically dispersed technical teams in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting technical topics to customers, at conferences, and preparing technical documentation
