Job description

SUMMARY:

Designs, develops, and tests process control system applications utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interfaces, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Designing, developing, and testing all hardware and software process control systems.
  • Programming industrial control systems.
  • Providing consultation on manufacturing and processing projects.
  • Analyzing and reducing scrap to increase efficiencies.
  • Creating detailed drawings and coordinating the building and testing of prototype products.
  • Writing and implementing maintenance procedures and performing maintenance as required.
  • Utilizing electrical engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Resolving project-related problems by collaborating with vendors, customers, shop personnel, and others.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Requires knowledge typically acquired through:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university, technical or vocational school.
  • Three to seven years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
  • Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from managers, clients, and employees.
  • Mathematical skills including frequency distribution, test reliability, analysis of variance, and more.
  • Problem definition, data collection, and conclusion drawing skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and handle multiple variables.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, walk, and use hands. May occasionally lift/move 10-25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, electrical shock risk, vibration, and moderate noise. Travel less than 5%.

MN STATE POSTING REQUIREMENTS:

SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - $175,000 (depending on experience level I, II, or III)
