Job summary

SharkNinja is seeking a Principal Connected Firmware Engineer in Needham, MA. You will set technical direction for wireless connectivity, display/UI, and app/cloud integration, and lead architecture for complex connected devices across our home appliance portfolio.

You will own certification processes, mentor engineers, and collaborate with hardware, cloud, and mobile teams to ensure robust, scalable firmware across products.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of embedded software and firmware engineering experience.
• Proven track record as principal/ staff/ lead architect on complex connected embedded systems.
• Experience taking products through wireless certification (Bluetooth SIG, Wi‑Fi, Matter).
• Experience defining architecture executed by external development partners and enforcing standards.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Define reference architectures and reference implementations for wireless connectivity, display/UI, and app/cloud integration reusable across product categories.
• Own the design of the most technically demanding connected subsystems — BLE/Wi‑Fi, Matter/Thread/Zigbee, display/UI frameworks, provisioning and pairing protocols.
• Lead technical design reviews and translate architectural intent into clear requirements for partners.
• Support certification submissions and track wireless standards evolution.
• Establish coding standards, QA thresholds, and tooling to ensure high-quality connected firmware.
• Mentor connected-track engineers across US and China teams.
