Job summary
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team at the Niskayuna site, focusing on drainage, roofs, and sewer/stormwater systems. You will lead civil/structural evaluations and support recapitalization from concept through construction.
Applicants should have 9+ years of civil engineering experience (7 with a Master's), EIT/PE credentials preferred, and strong communication across project teams in a safety‑critical, government contractor
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Doctorate with 3+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.
Responsibilities
- Support preventative maintenance, emergent repairs, and renovations for facility infrastructure.
- Perform civil/structural evaluations for roads, underground utilities, roofs, and drainage systems.
- Lead recapitalization efforts from concept design through construction closeout; prepare calculations, specs, and cost estimates.
- Provide construction inspections and coordination with multi-disciplinary project teams.
