Job summary

Stantec seeks a Principal for the Community Development Team in Texas, leading business development and growth of the practice. The role focuses on civil engineering for public and private projects, partnering with cross-functional teams, and delivering exceptional client service across Texas.

Based in San Antonio, Plano, or Austin, the role reports to the Regional Business Leader and involves travel across the region to expand the practice and recruit top talent.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of site civil or land development engineering experience.
• Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Strong leadership and business development experience to grow the Texas practice.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for external clients and oversee all aspects of team projects.
• Lead and mentor a team of civil engineering staff.
• Lead marketing and business development for the local Community Development team.
• Lead recruiting efforts to build a strong team of professionals and support staff.
• Prepare proposals and coordinate with clients, team members, and sub-consultants.
• Perform planning phase activities and assess project feasibility for civil engineering tasks.
• Direct all civil engineering design aspects including grading, drainage, and site development.
• Oversee submission packages, calculations, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and client communications.
