Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, & delivery of public infrastructure and land development projects from concept through construction.
• Provide technical oversight and QA for roadway, grading, drainage, water, wastewater, and utility improvement projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record on major infrastructure projects.
• Build & maintain relationships with municipalities, public agencies, developers, & private clients.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and overall performance.
• Lead proposal development, interviews, contract negotiations, and business development efforts.
• Mentor engineers, PMs, and designers to foster a high-performing team culture.
• Identify strategic growth opportunities and expand R.E.Y.’s Bay Area presence.

Principal Civil Engineer

Location: Pleasanton, CA | Full-Time

Salary: $160,000–$225,000 DOE + Annual Bonus + Potential Ownership Opportunity

What You’ll Do

• Lead the planning, design, & delivery of public infrastructure and land development projects from concept through construction.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for roadway, grading, drainage, water, wastewater, and utility improvement projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record on major infrastructure projects.
• Build & maintain strong relationships with municipalities, public agencies, developers, & private clients.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and overall project performance.

• Mentor engineers, project managers, and designers while fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
• Work with firm leadership to identify strategic growth opportunities and expand R.E.Y.’s presence throughout the Bay Area.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• California Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong background in Public Works, municipal infrastructure, utilities, or land development projects
• Demonstrated success managing client relationships and delivering complex engineering projects

Preferred

• Established relationships with Bay Area municipalities, agencies, and private clients
• Strong business development and proposal leadership experience
• Experience mentoring engineers and developing future project managers
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and industry-standard hydraulic or stormwater modeling software
• Passion for growing teams, building client partnerships, and contributing to firm leadership
