R.E.Y. Engineers in Pleasanton, CA, is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead Bay Area projects and mentor a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• California PE license
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
• Strong background in public works, municipal infrastructure, utilities, or land development
• Proven client relationship management and project delivery

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and delivery of public infrastructure and land development projects from concept through construction
• Provide technical oversight and QA for roadway, grading, drainage, water, wastewater, and utilities
• Serve as Engineer of Record on major infrastructure projects
• Build relationships with municipalities, agencies, developers, and private clients
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and overall performance
• Lead proposal development, interviews, contract negotiations, and business development
• Mentor engineers and designers and foster a high‑performing team culture
• Identify strategic growth opportunities and expand Bay Area presence

R.E.Y. Engineers is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to help lead the continued growth of our Bay Area operations.

This is more than a technical leadership role. You'll help define the direction of our engineering practice by leading multidisciplinary teams, strengthening client relationships, mentoring future leaders, and driving strategic business development throughout Northern California.

What You’ll Do

As a Principal Engineer, you’ll serve as both a technical leader and trusted advisor to clients while helping grow our Bay Area presence.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of public infrastructure and land development projects from concept through construction
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for roadway, grading, drainage, water, wastewater, and utility improvement projects
• Serve as Engineer of Record on major infrastructure projects
• Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, public agencies, developers, and private clients
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and overall project performance
• Lead proposal development, interviews, contract negotiations, and business development efforts
• Mentor engineers, project managers, and designers while fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team culture
• Work alongside firm leadership to identify strategic growth opportunities and expand R.E.Y.'s presence throughout the Bay Area

What We’re Looking For

Required

• California Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong background in Public Works, municipal infrastructure, utilities, or land development projects
• Demonstrated success managing client relationships and delivering complex engineering projects

Preferred

• Established relationships with Bay Area municipalities, agencies, and private clients
• Strong business development and proposal leadership experience
• Experience mentoring engineers and developing future project managers
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and industry‑standard hydraulic or stormwater modeling software
• Passion for growing teams, building client partnerships, and contributing to firm leadership
