Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking a Principal Business Systems Analyst to partner with business and IT teams to gather BI requirements and map data from applications into repeatable reports and dashboards.

You will lead data analysis, create specifications, and drive end-to-end BI solutions across the enterprise. You will work with SAP BW, SAP BW on HANA, and cloud data warehouses, using SAP BO, SAC, Power BI or Tableau to deliver insight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8+ years IT/data analysis experience.
• Strong data warehouse and ETL knowledge with SQL proficiency.
• Experience with SAP BW architectures (BW7.x, BW on HANA, BW/4HANA).
• Experience with SAP Datasphere or cloud-based data warehouses is a plus.
• Proficient in BI reporting tools (SAP BO, SAC, Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with Sales, Distribution, Finance processes in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document BI requirements for stakeholders.
• Design, develop, test, and implement data reporting solutions enterprise-wide.
• Lead BRD and FSD development with stakeholder alignment and approval.
• Collaborate with PMs, architects, and tech teams on roadmaps and delivery plans.
• Lead testing activities including UAT and ensure successful deployments.
• Act as SME for reporting, troubleshoot data issues, and train end users.

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Principal Business Systems Analyst at MKS, Inc. you will partner with business and IT partners to gather business intelligence reporting and analytic requirements, write functional specification documents to map data from applications, create report & dashboard wireframes, conduct detailed source data analysis, identify data gaps and work with the business and technical teams to implement high-quality BI solutions. In this role, you will report to the Sr. Manager of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Reporting.

You Will Make an Impact By:

• Partnering with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and document reporting and analytics requirements, translating business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and technical report designs.
• Designing, developing, testing, and implementing data and reporting solutions that support enterprise-wide business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
• Leading requirements definition, business process analysis, and documentation efforts, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), while obtaining stakeholder alignment and approval.
• Collaborating with project managers, architects, and technical teams to define solution roadmaps, delivery plans, and reporting strategies that align with organizational objectives.
• Leading testing activities, including integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT), documenting test plans, managing issue resolution, and ensuring successful solution deployment.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for reporting and analytics solutions by troubleshooting data and reporting issues, validating data integrity, improving business processes, and delivering end-user training to drive adoption of BI capabilities.

Skills You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in IT, systems/data analysis, and SAP data warehouse environments.
• Strong understanding of data warehouse and ETL processes with ability to write SQL queries to analyze data; Experience working with SAP BW, SAP BW on HANA, SAP ECC, ORACLE or other major ERP systems.
• Experience working with Enterprise data warehouse platforms such as SAP BW architectures (BW 7.x, or BW on HANA, or BW/4HANA).
• Experience in SAP Datasphere or experience in Cloud based data warehouse solutions is desired.
• Proficiency with reporting and visualization tools such as SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Understanding of key business processes, including Sales & Distribution, Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Materials Management, and Finance (FICO) within a manufacturing environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle incident resolution with limited documentation
