Job summary

Empower Retirement, LLC is seeking a Principal Business Systems Analyst to drive complex business process improvements and align technology with business needs. You will lead cross-functional teams in an Agile setting, shaping requirements, and developing comprehensive system documentation to support roadmap initiatives.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years as a Lead Business Systems Analyst, strong SQL/GAA data skills, and experience mentoring others.

The Principal Business Systems Analyst will lead the evaluation of complex business processes and systems, identifying and implementing advanced solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. This role will lead collaboration with stakeholders to gather complex requirements, analyze data, and develop comprehensive system documentation while connecting business needs with technology solutions. The Principal Business Systems Analyst will also contribute to product delivery, influence best practices, mentor other Analysts, and participate in future application roadmaps.

What you will do:

Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to gather and document business requirements for software development projects. Analyze and translate business needs into clear and concise user stories that align with project goals. Conduct complex and critical work independently, exercising judgment and influencing best practices within the discipline. Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and development teams to ensure a shared understanding of project requirements. Conduct interviews, story mapping, storyboarding, workflow analysis, process analysis, and observation sessions to support requirements for IT development projects. Analyze existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency gains. Work closely with Quality Assurance and Engineers to review story requirements and validate system functionality. Troubleshoot issues, conduct impact analysis, and recommend solutions. Review system enhancements with project stakeholders. Create flow diagrams and document technical solutions. Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in business analysis and Agile methodologies. Coach and mentor other Analysts and lead the COE for the Analyst community within the Value stream. Develop solutions to complex business problems in collaboration with Architects and System Analysts. Participate in future application roadmaps and contribute ideas to improve application scalability and resilience. Serve as a key point of contact for business queries, particularly during major incidents.

What you will bring:

10+ years of relevant work experience working with development and systems teams as a Lead Business Systems Analyst. Ability to analyze complex business processes and identify areas for improvement. Ability to identify and solve business problems through innovative and practical solutions. Effective communication skills to understand stakeholder needs and clearly convey technical information. Proficiency in collecting, documenting, and managing system requirements from stakeholders. Understanding of technology and systems, including highly complex multi-platform applications and databases, to bridge business needs and technical solutions. Effective documentation skills to create comprehensive reports, manuals, workflows, and specifications. Ability to manage tasks, timelines, and resources effectively to support successful project delivery. Flexibility and adaptability to changes in project scope, requirements, or technological advancements. A high level of proficiency with technology, including SQL, Toad, MS Access, Excel, and/or SharePoint. Strong knowledge of Agile development methodology, including experience with Jira and Confluence.

What will set you apart:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience with Agile principles. Prior production support and troubleshooting experience. Experience as a QA or Developer.

  • Base Salary Range $114,000.00 - $165,300.00
  • Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
  • Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
