• Direct forensic evaluations of enclosure/roofing systems with distress or performance deficiencies.
• Oversee field testing of roofing, waterproofing, fenestration, and curtain wall per applicable standards.
• Review and approve architectural drawings, specs, and submittals related to enclosure systems.
• Lead QA observations and site inspections to ensure conformance with contract documents.

Job description

A firm is seeking a seasoned Principal Building Enclosure Consultant to lead a diverse portfolio of commercial, educational, retail, multi-family, manufacturing, and institutional projects across Florida, spanning both public and private sectors.

Role Overview

This position leads field investigations, testing, inspections, forensic evaluations, and consulting on building enclosure systems, roofing, waterproofing, windows, and exterior wall assemblies — with primary responsibility for client relationships, technical direction, and mentoring of junior and mid-level staff across field and office settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead visual enclosure assessments, moisture surveys, pre-design investigations, and property condition assessments


• Direct forensic evaluations of enclosure/roofing systems showing distress, water intrusion, or performance deficiencies


• Oversee field testing of roofing, waterproofing, fenestration, and curtain wall systems per ASTM/AAMA/TAS/ANSI standards


• Review and approve architectural drawings, specifications, and submittals related to enclosure systems


• Lead QA observations and site inspections, ensuring conformance with contract documents and industry best practices


• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget; oversee QA/QC across engagements
  
• Serve as primary client liaison and support business development efforts


• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level consultants

Qualifications

• Active, clean P.E. in Florida (or R.A.)


• 15+ years' experience in building enclosure, roofing/waterproofing consulting, forensic investigation, or related work


• Strong knowledge of building construction practices and enclosure systems


• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, plans, and specifications


• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or building science preferred


• Proven ability to lead teams and manage client relationships

Preferred

• Extensive experience with remedial design and repair recommendations


• Deep familiarity with ASTM/AAMA/FM/ANSI/TAS standards


• Established reputation as a technical expert/consultant within the industry
