Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and operation of Roblox Backbone and Edge networks from our Ashburn, VA data center. You will shape global production networking to support rapid user growth while driving scalable, observable, and safe infrastructure.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of large-scale network experience, strong routing protocol expertise, and a track record of collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, deploying and operating large-scale networks.
• 5+ years designing and managing large-scale Backbone and Edge Networks.
• Experience with BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP-TE.
• Experience with IPv4/IPv6 and TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS.
• Hands-on with multi-vendor networking hardware.
• Programming experience in Python/Go/C/C++ is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Principle Engineer for Roblox's Backbone Network.
• Drive design, deployment, and operations for large-scale network infrastructure.
• Evaluate and validate new technologies and ensure scalable deployment.
• Collaborate with Network Tooling Team to improve telemetry and alerting.
• Automate workflows and improve telemetry across the network.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
