Job summary

Ingersoll Rand seeks a Principal Architect to lead the product and systems architecture of its Digital Solutions portfolio. You will define architecture across embedded firmware, Linux platforms, connectivity, and cloud services, guiding subsystem teams globally.

This is a senior individual contributor role with influence on strategy and technical direction. You will drive architectural decisions, interface with Product Management and Engineering Leadership, and maintain reference architectures

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
10+ years of experience in software, systems, or embedded engineering at portfolio, platform, or principal-architect level.

Responsibilities

Define and own the product and systems architecture across the Digital Solutions portfolio, from embedded firmware and Linux platforms to connectivity and cloud services.
Own the ecosystem architecture and ensure coherence as products, platforms, and integrations evolve.
Translate product strategy and roadmaps into clear technical direction, adapting architecture as opportunities arise.
Interface with architects across digital subsystems to drive alignment and approve changes to shared interfaces.
Author and maintain reference architectures, architectural decision records, and design standards.
Contribute architectural insight to build-versus-buy decisions and partner evaluations.
