Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Davidson, NC (and Quincy, IL) is seeking a Principal Architect to lead the product and systems architecture of its Digital Solutions portfolio, blending embedded controls, edge connectivity, and cloud services for customers worldwide.

This senior individual contributor will set the technical direction for subsystem teams, partnering with Product Management and Engineering Leadership to drive architectural decisions and reusable patterns.

Qualifications

• Track record of architecting products that combine embedded firmware, Linux, connectivity, and cloud services.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity for connected products, including secure boot, identity management, and OTA updates.
• Experience with industrial control systems, motor control, or regulatory standards such as UL, IEC, ISO, EMI/EMC.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the product and systems architecture across the Digital Solutions portfolio, from embedded firmware to cloud services.
• Own the ecosystem architecture and ensure coherence as products and integrations evolve.
• Translate product strategy into technical direction and adapt architecture as opportunities arise.
• Interface with architects across digital subsystems to drive alignment and approve shared interfaces.
• Author and maintain reference architectures and design standards for subsystem teams.
