Job summary

Blue-Signal-Search seeks a Principal Architect to join its leadership team in Reno, NV. The role leads projects from planning through construction, mentors staff, and drives design excellence across a diverse portfolio including education, commercial, civic, hospitality, and mixed-use developments.

The successful candidate will foster client relationships, coordinate with consultants, and advance strategic planning and growth within a collaborative, high-performance firm.

Qualifications

  • Licensed architect with active RA license.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive architectural leadership experience.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and managing cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of K-12 educational facilities a plus.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with consultants, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Revit and other industry-standard software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural leadership through all project phases from planning to construction.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and coordinate with consultants and contractors.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to meet design, budget and schedule objectives.
  • Mentor designers and staff to promote design excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with codes and standards; oversee project documentation.

Principal Architect
Location: Reno, NV (On-site)

Focus:
  • Provide architectural leadership throughout all phases of project delivery, from early planning through construction completion.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients while fostering strong relationships with consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality architectural solutions that meet design, budget, and schedule objectives.
  • Mentor architects, designers, and technical staff, supporting professional development and promoting design excellence.
  • Review project documentation to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, operational improvements, and business development initiatives that support continued organizational growth.
  • Support the successful execution of multiple projects while maintaining exceptional client service and project performance.
Skill Set:
  • Registered Architect (RA) license required.
  • Approximately 10 or more years of progressive architectural experience, including leadership of complex building projects.
  • Demonstrated success managing project teams while mentoring developing professionals.
  • Previous experience with K-12 educational facilities is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, construction documentation, construction administration, and consultant coordination.
  • Proficiency with Revit and other industry-standard architectural design software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with strong client relationship management.
