Job summary

A leading architecture firm in Orange County, CA seeks a Principal of Multifamily to drive growth in multifamily and mixed-use markets. You will lead client development, secure large, complex projects, and strengthen project execution in collaboration with the leadership team.

Responsibilities include identifying prospects, managing high-value client relationships, shaping pursuit strategies, and guiding the firm’s expansion into senior housing and student housing.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated multifamily (ideally plus mixed-use) business development track record.
  • Existing network of developer and builder relationships in Southern California.
  • Ability to personally manage and retain client relationships after a project is won.
  • Comfortable operating in a co-leadership capacity rather than building or running a team alone.
  • Experience across project scale, from small custom homes to large-scale multifamily developments.
  • A design or project management background that has evolved into a principal-level business development role.
  • Low ego, direct, and quick to build genuine trust with clients and colleagues.
  • Entrepreneurial — as energized by opening a new relationship as by tending an existing one.

Responsibilities

  • Identify prospects and win new multifamily and mixed-use assignments, targeting two to three solid project wins per year
  • Personally carry client relationships forward once a project is won, protecting and growing repeat business that already makes up around half of practice revenue
  • Represent the firm in the Southern California multifamily development community, rebuilding industry visibility and presence
  • Work closely with the firm's existing multifamily team and alongside leadership and business development in a co-leadership capacity
  • Lead RFP responses and pursuit strategy for prospective projects in partnership with the design team
  • Contribute to strategic growth as the firm expands into senior housing now, and student housing next

Job description

Our client, a well-established architecture firm based in Orange County, California, is seeking a Principal of Multifamily.
