Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Principal Applications Engineer to define device specifications for precision analog and mixed-signal products, and to own system-level customer requirements across ADCs, DACs, op-amps and references.

You will collaborate with design, validation, and product teams through the NPD lifecycle, develop reference designs, write datasheets and application notes, train field teams, and help customers at design-in while mentoring others.

Qualifications

• BSEE, MSEE, or PhD with 10+ years in analog/mixed-signal design, validation, or systems engineering.
• Deep hands-on expertise in precision linear/analog or data converters (SAR/DACs).
• Able to define device specifications and translate customer needs into requirements.
• Strong bench evaluation, oscilloscope/multimeter instrumentation, and PCB bring-up.
• Proficient in SPICE simulations and circuit analysis tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to train and document.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Author and maintain device specifications for new products.
• Evaluate silicon with hands-on testing and reference circuits.
• Develop evaluation hardware and reference designs for complete signal chains.
• Create application notes, guides, and datasheets.
• Resolve design issues with customers and field teams.
• Provide technical training on product operation.
