Job summary

S&P Global Energy seeks a Principal Analyst to lead research on North American clean technology markets within the Renewables Markets team. You will analyze market, policy, regulatory, and investment dynamics shaping technology deployment across the region.

You will produce market reports, forecasts, and thought leadership, engage with clients, and collaborate with global teams to deliver insights on solar, storage, wind, geothermal, and related technologies driving the energy transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Energy Studies, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in energy, clean technology, market research, consulting, industry analysis, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of North American clean energy markets, including policy, regulatory, investment, and market dynamics.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written research and communicate complex ideas to senior industry audiences.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong presentation and client engagement skills, with the ability to represent S&P Global at industry events and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and analysis on North American clean technology markets, tracking key developments, growth trends, and investment activity across both mature and emerging technologies.
• Produce high-quality market reports, thematic studies, forecasts, and thought leadership covering technology deployment, policy developments, economics, business models, and competitive positioning.
• Analyze federal and state-level policies, incentives, regulatory frameworks, and market mechanisms influencing clean energy adoption and investment.
• Evaluate market opportunities, barriers to deployment, supply chain developments, commercialization pathways, and emerging industry risks.
• Assess corporate strategies, business models, partnerships, and competitive dynamics across the clean technology ecosystem.
• Engage directly with clients to discuss market developments, present research findings, and provide expert insight on key industry trends.
• Support the development of new research offerings and contribute to expanding the team's coverage of emerging technologies and market topics.
• Collaborate across global research teams to deliver integrated perspectives on clean technology deployment, policy, and investment trends.
