Job summary

Familiar Machines & Magic seeks a Principal Software and AI Technical Program Manager to drive AI and software development for Familiars. You will coordinate AI, software and hardware programs, guiding research-to-delivery milestones with autonomy.

You will work with the Head of Technical Program Management to align objectives, manage risks, and shape the roadmap for emotionally intelligent physical AI systems.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in technical program or project management, delivering AI/ML products.
• Track record leading multi-team programs where software, AI and hardware come together.
• Strong hands-on understanding of AI/ML systems: training, evaluation and deployment in real products.
• Experience managing programs through research uncertainty and changing outcomes.
• Fluency with modern development and release practices (agile, release planning, risk management).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of complex AI and software functionality from research through production across AI and Software teams.
• Build and maintain realistic program plans, schedules and milestones; adapt as priorities shift.
• Coordinate across disciplines (perception, AI, behaviors) and with Hardware TPM on dependencies.
• Identify and manage technical risks and cross-team dependencies early and resolve them.
• Set the framework for how programs are planned, sequenced and delivered and improve processes for leadership.
• Partner with engineering leadership to align execution with the product roadmap.
• Balance research uncertainty with delivery deadlines and make smart trade-offs.
• Communicate status, risks and changes clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
